SINGAPORE: Seven men were arrested after authorities were alerted to a fight between two groups of people at a restaurant along Circular Road, police said on Tuesday (December 22).
The seven, ages 20 to 42, are charged with riot and reckless act, police said, adding that they were alerted around 9.45 p.m. Sunday.
Two of the men, aged 24 and 42, were detained at the scene and a knife was seized from them. The rest of the suspects had fled before the arrival of the police.
The other five men were identified after follow-up investigations and with the help of CCTV camera footage, and were arrested within two hours of the incident being reported.
All seven will be indicted in court on Tuesday. Five of them will be charged with rioting, punishable by up to seven years in jail and flogging. Two other men will be charged with reckless act, which carries a jail term of up to six months, a fine of up to S $ 2,500, or both.
The police also requested information on the whereabouts of three men – Alif Daniel Norhidayat, Muhammad Khaliff Norhidayat, Mohamad Firdaus Yusni – to assist with the investigations of the case.
