His victim lay motionless, but that didn’t stop a 45-year-old man from kicking, hitting and trampling him in full view of shocked bystanders.

The man, who was not identified, was arrested for voluntarily causing serious injuries and suspected drug offenses after his violent attack on Block 182A Rivervale Crescent on Tuesday afternoon (September 22), police said.

The 47-year-old man who was beaten by the man was conscious when he was transferred to Sengkang General Hospital, they added.

Apparently, the assailant recommended a cleaning job to the victim. However, their relationship soured due to the latter’s lackluster work and led to the altercation, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The two men argued before exchanging blows, a witness told the Chinese newspaper.

In the course of the fight, the victim fell to the ground, but the other man did not let go, he said.

Video footage of the incident, which was shared on Facebook, showed the young man, dressed in black, shouting Hokkien vulgarities as he threw blows at the older man who was lying on the ground.

He struck, kicked and stepped on the victim’s head repeatedly before pointing a finger at his face, screaming inaudibly and walking away.

He then left the scene but was reportedly later arrested at his home in Ang Mo Kio.

“My leg hurts and I use a cane. I also have heart problems, so I did not dare to approach to offer help,” explained the witness, adding that another passer-by provided assistance by supporting the injured and moving his side.

The victim was reportedly bleeding from the left ear, nose and mouth. He also appeared to have suffered fractures to his face and abrasions to his head and cheek.
