44-year-old Bangladeshi man infected with COVID-19 dies of heart attack

SINGAPORE – A 44-year-old man who was previously confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 died of a heart attack on Tuesday (May 5), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

The man had been admitted to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on April 29 and was treated for a heart attack, and was confirmed to have a COVID-19 infection the same day.

With this case, the number of deaths among confirmed cases of COVID-19 from causes unrelated to infection increased to six.

The other five deaths, all male, were two Indian citizens, aged 32 and 46, two Malays, aged 40 and 80, and a 47-year-old Bangladeshi. The causes of death for four of them were myocardial infarction (Malay, 40), coronary heart disease (Bangladeshi and Indian, 32), and they fell from height in the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (Indian, 46) while the cause of the death of the 80-year-old Malay.

The Ministry of Health also confirmed 632 new cases of COVID-19 and nine new groups in Singapore as of May 5 at noon, with a total of 19,410.
