SINGAPORE – The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) is investigating a field trip by Cambridge Pre-school to Pasir Ris Park on Thursday (March 18).

The Straits Times spotted the group in the park around 1 p.m. It seemed to be made up of more than 40 teachers and children.

When approached, a woman in the group refused to give her name and claimed they “had permission.”

He also claimed that it was not allowed to take photos or videos of the group.

The group had three picnic mats, with more than eight preschoolers on each mat.

Ms Fiona Lee, director of preschool operations at Cambridge Pre-school Singapore, confirmed that the group was from her school.

“At Cambridge Pre-school, the safety and well-being of our children is our utmost concern,” he said.

“One of our preschoolers brought our little ones to Pasir Ris Park on March 18 to enjoy nature.”

It did not answer questions about what action would be taken.

An ECDA spokesperson said outside preschool activities, including field trips and learning trips, were allowed to resume from earlier this year.

But safe handling measures (SMM) are still to be observed, including a group size limit of 50, including all adults and children.

Children should also be divided into groups of eight, with each group at least 1 meter apart and not intermixing.

The night camps remain suspended.

“We are currently investigating whether the preschool had adhered to the MMS,” the spokesperson said.

“If flaws are found, ECDA will take action against the preschool and will also work with them to ensure future activities adhere to prevailing SMMs.”
