4 passengers, between 12 and 16 years old, arrested for alleged assault and robbery of a taxi driver

Three young men and a young woman, aged 12 to 16, were arrested on Tuesday (October 13) for their alleged involvement in a robbery case with injuries.

Police received a report on Thursday (October 8) around 11:35 pm that a 64-year-old taxi driver had been assaulted and robbed by four unknown men after leaving them in the vicinity of Sungei Tengah Road.

“Through ground investigations and with the help of CCTV footage and police cameras, officers from the Jurong Police Division established the identities of the four youths and arrested them,” police said in a statement.

Preliminary investigations revealed that three of the youths are also believed to be involved in a separate home invasion case reported along 7 Choa Chu Kang Avenue.

The four young men will be indicted in court on Wednesday (October 14) for the crime of robbery with damage.

The crime carries a prison sentence of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
