SINGAPORE – Four new coronavirus cases were confirmed at noon on Thursday (Nov. 19), all imported, for the ninth consecutive day.

Imported cases were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

There were no new cases from the community and none from the workers’ bedrooms.

Thursday’s new cases bring Singapore’s total to 58,139.

More details will be announced Thursday night.

On Wednesday, five new cases of coronavirus were confirmed, all of them imported.

All five had been placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said.

No new locally transmitted cases were announced Wednesday, for the eighth consecutive day.

Three of the five are work permit holders, and the rest are holders of a student pass and one holder of a short-term visitation pass.

The work permit holders, employed in Singapore, had traveled from Myanmar. The holder of the student pass came from India, while the holder of the short term visit pass came from Bangladesh. All were asymptomatic when they were evaluated.

The Health Ministry said all close contacts of the imported cases have been isolated and tests will be conducted at the beginning and end of their quarantine period to detect asymptomatic cases.

No new clusters or new locations visited by infectious patients with Covid-19 were announced on Wednesday.

The Health Ministry said the dormitory group at Aspri-Westlite Papan has been closed, with no new cases linked to it for 28 days, or two incubation periods.

With seven cases discharged on Wednesday, 58,431 patients have recovered from the disease.

There were 33 patients still in hospital on Wednesday, none in intensive care, while 28 were in community facilities.

Singapore has had 28 deaths from Covid-19 complications, and 15 that tested positive have died from other causes.
