SINGAPORE – Four new coronavirus cases were confirmed at noon on Friday (November 20), all of which were imported.
Imported cases were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.
There were no new community cases and none of the workers’ bedrooms for the 10th day in a row.
Friday’s cases bring Singapore’s total to 58,143.
More details will be announced Friday evening.
On Thursday, the Health Ministry said a 68-year-old Singaporean man is under investigation for failing to state he had symptoms.
It was one of four new cases announced Thursday. All four were imported and posted on stay-at-home notices upon arrival here.
The Health Ministry said investigations were underway to assess whether the man had breached travel requirements.
He had traveled from Indonesia and had trouble breathing since November 11.
But on Tuesday, he said on his health declaration form for immigration clearance that he had no symptoms.
“We urge everyone to continue exercising social responsibility and we will not hesitate to take compliance measures against those who violate the rules,” the Health Ministry said.
There were no new cases transmitted locally for the ninth day in a row Thursday, the longest period since a 12-day run from Jan.23 to Feb.3.
The other three new cases imported on Thursday included a special pass holder, a permanent resident (PR) and a work permit holder.
The holder of the special pass came from Montenegro to board a ship docked here as a member of the crew. The PR came from India, while the work permit holder came from Indonesia.
The Health Ministry also said Thursday that of the 28 Covid-19 patients in the hospital, one was in critical condition in the intensive care unit. It was the first critical case here in just over a month since October 11.
Along with 31 patients recovering in community facilities, Singapore had 59 active cases on Thursday.
With six cases discharged on Thursday, 58,037 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.
Singapore has had 28 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 56.8 million people. More than 1.35 million people have died.
