Preliminary investigations found that three men, ages 19 to 22, allegedly stole the unit, SPF said in a press release.

“One of the men allegedly pointed a knife at an employee, pulled her hair and demanded that she hand over the money to the unit,” said SPF. “The men later dragged her into a room inside the unit to confine her, before fleeing with cash amounting to about S $ 48,000.”

The police intelligence department and the Clementi police division established the identities of the three men and arrested them within 12 hours. A 26-year-old man was also arrested for allegedly disposing of the knife believed to have been used to commit the crime.

At a press conference Friday, Deputy Police Deputy Commissioner Mark E Kwan Szer said investigations had shown there was “some level of organization” in the execution of the robbery.

“From our investigations so far, we have established some level of organization to carry out this theft. They were conducting some kind of reconnaissance before attacking the unit, they were also checking the unit, if there were people inside, ”he told reporters.

“There was some level of planning, but the investigations are still ongoing and we are trying to determine how organized they were.”

Police officers also found a garment lying on the ground near the crime scene, DAC Marc E said, noting that the men tried to disguise themselves by changing clothes.

After the robbery, the men fled on foot, and part of their escape also involved a getaway vehicle, said DAC Marc E, who is also the commander of the Clementi police division.

Officers used CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to track down the suspects, it added.

“Later there was an attempt to evade arrest but we managed to apprehend them,” he said.

The fourth suspect was located after the arrest of the three men.

About S $ 30,000 of the stolen money was recovered and police are working to recover the rest, SPF said.

“This case exemplifies the tireless commitment of the police to go after these criminals to bring them to justice.”

The four men will be charged in court Saturday with armed robbery with damage, which carries a jail term of between five and 20 years, and a minimum of 12 strokes of the baton.
