SINGAPORE – Five men were arrested and drugs worth approximately $ 360,000 were seized during a Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) operation at various locations on Monday (September 7).

Weapons, such as knives, were also recovered.

Additionally, authorities recovered a total of $ 19,865 in cash from two locations.

CNB said in a statement Tuesday that its officers arrested three Malaysian men and two Singaporean men, ages 24 to 33, for alleged drug-related activities.

On Monday morning, officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of 32 Woodlands Street and arrested a 25-year-old Malaysian.

About 1g of ice and $ 15,350 was recovered from the unit.

At the same time, another group of CNB agents raided another residential unit in the vicinity of 12 Pasir Ris Street and arrested a second 25-year-old Malaysian.

In a follow-up operation Monday night, CNB officers were deployed in the vicinity of the Kranji Loop to observe a 31-year-old Malaysian who was believed to have left a package in the area. The officers recovered about 1 kg of ice and 3 kg of cannabis.

Later, the man was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint.

In another follow-up operation Monday night in the vicinity of 32 Woodlands Street, officers arrested two Singaporeans, ages 24 and 33.

The youngest suspect fought violently during the arrest and force was used to subdue him, CNB said.

About 1 g of cannabis was found for him, along with $ 4,515 in cash and a parang with a 12-inch long blade.

Two packages containing a total of approximately 1 g of ice and a “karambit” knife, which is shaped like a claw, were also found in his vehicle.
