SINGAPORE – 34 new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of Tuesday noon (Sept. 15), bringing Singapore’s total to 57,488.

There were six imported cases that were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

More details will be announced Tuesday night.

On Monday, the Health Ministry reported that the Queensway Mall, Waterway Point, West Mall and the Shake Shack store in Liat Towers were among the places visited by Covid-19 patients while they were still infectious.

Four visits were recorded at the Anytime Fitness gym in the Queensway Shopping Center between Sept. 3-8, the Health Ministry said.

The 4Fingers Crispy Chicken store at Changi Airport Terminal 3 was also added to the list.

The Health Ministry also confirmed 48 new cases of coronavirus on Monday. There were five imported cases, including one permanent resident, one work pass holder, one work permit holder, and two short-term visit pass holders.

Of these, four returned from India and one from the United States.

All imported cases were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said.

There were no new community cases on Monday.

Migrant workers staying in dormitories made up the remaining 43 new coronavirus patients announced Monday.

Among them, 29 were identified as contacts from previous cases and had already been quarantined to prevent further transmission. They were tested during their quarantine period, the ministry said.

The remaining 14 cases were detected through surveillance tests, such as routine tests on the list of workers who stay in dormitories every fifteen days.

The Ministry of Health also announced two new dormitory groups: in Jurong Penjuru Bedroom 1 at 58 Penjuru Place and Jurong Penjuru Bedroom 2 at 36 Penjuru Place.

The average number of daily new cases in the community in a week has decreased from two cases two weeks ago to one in the last week.

The number of unrelated cases in the community in one week has decreased from a daily average of two cases to one during the same period.

With 38 cases discharged on Monday, 56,787 have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 53 patients remain in the hospital, while 572 recover in community facilities and none in intensive care.

Singapore has had 27 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 29.1 million people. More than 928,000 people have died.
