30 women arrested for labor crimes after police raided nightspots in several places

Thirty women, ages 22 to 53, were arrested for crimes under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act after an execution operation was carried out on Wednesday (November 11).

Police said in a statement that they carried out a joint operation led by the Central Police Division involving officers from the Department of Criminal Investigations and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) at public entertainment venues located along Aliwal. Street, Temple Street, Beach Road. , Syed Alwi Road and South Bridge Road.

“During the operation, it was discovered that two outlets had violated the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) 2020 Act and another outlet had violated the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) 2020 Act and the conditions of the liquor license,” he said police.

“Eight people were investigated for their alleged violation of the Regulation (Control Order) Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) for meeting in a group of more than five people.”

Police investigations are ongoing.

Actions will be taken against operators for disobeying the rules and regulations under the Alcoholic Beverages Control Act of 2015, the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act of 2020, and the Foreign Labor Employment Act.

The police added that they will continue to take tough enforcement measures against illegal activities and that those found engaging in such activities will be treated in accordance with the law.
