An 85-year-old man was fined after being caught in a series of police raids that led to the arrest of 30 women for vice-related activities.

The old man was among 19 men found during swoops at various facilities, including Housing Board properties, massage stores, several condos, and a hotel.

They each received a $ 300 fine as they had left their residences for “non-essential activity,” police said Sunday (May 10).

The 30 women, aged 19 to 48, were detained in the raids, carried out by agents from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Central, Tanglin, Ang Mo Kio and Bedok Divisions.

“Vice activities are increasingly carried out on residential properties, facilitated by the use of online platforms to advertise vice-related services and solicit clients,” police said, adding that this has affected the feeling of security between the residents.

They added that HDB apartment owners must conduct regular checks to ensure that tenants do not violate regulations.

Landlords and tenants who knowingly allow their apartments to be used for vice-related activities will be prosecuted under the Women’s Charter and could be jailed for up to three years, fined up to $ 3,000, or both. Repeat offenders can be jailed for up to five years, fined up to $ 10,000, or both.

People who operate as pimps or agents for vice activities could face five-year prison terms and fines of up to $ 10,000, or both.

Wandering massage parlor licensees can be fined up to $ 10,000, imprisoned for up to two years, or both.
