SINGAPORE: Singapore reported three new COVID-19 cases as of noon on Friday (December 4), the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said in its daily preliminary update.

All the cases were imported infections that had already been placed on a stay-at-home notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

There were no new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, the Health Ministry said.

More details on Friday’s new cases will be updated later in the evening, the Health Ministry added.

Singapore will contribute US $ 5 million to the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access (COVAX) initiative, the Health Ministry and Foreign Ministry (MFA) said on Friday.

The contribution is “part of our continued support for vaccine multilateralism, and fair and equitable access and allocation of vaccines,” the ministries said in the joint press release.

“The successful development of safe and effective vaccines is a critical step in overcoming the pandemic,” he added.

COVAX, a program led by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the GAVI vaccine group to pool funds from richer countries and non-profit organizations to buy and distribute vaccines to dozens of poorer countries, has raised $ 2 billion of dollars.

As of Friday, Singapore has reported a total of 58,842 COVID-19 cases.
