SINGAPORE – Three new coronavirus cases were confirmed at noon on Thursday (October 15), bringing Singapore’s total to 57,892.

They included a case in a bedroom, said the Ministry of Health (MINSA).

No cases were reported in the community.

There were also two imported cases that had been included in stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

More details will be announced Thursday night.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health reported two new cases of Covid-19 in the community, a 13-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl.

Both patients had been to their respective schools for the last time on October 2. Both were quarantined since October 3, and samples were taken that day, but they tested negative, the Health Ministry said in a statement Wednesday night.

They subsequently developed symptoms during quarantine and subsequently tested positive on Tuesday.

There were no new local cases of the workers’ dormitories on Wednesday, the ministry said. This was the second day in a row that no new cases were reported in bedrooms.

On Wednesday morning, Education Minister Lawrence Wong warned against complacency, saying Singapore would likely see new cases.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Wong, who co-chairs the multi-ministerial working group addressing Covid-19, acknowledged the fatigue that has been produced by current measures, but reiterated that “the virus had not been eradicated.” , adding that “it is still circulating in our community.”

“We still have to keep our guard up and be very disciplined in complying with all necessary safeguards. That is the mindset that will allow us to continue on this path of progressive reopening in a safe and sustainable manner,” he said.

Imported cases made up the remaining three of the five new cases announced Wednesday. They were a Singaporean returning from Great Britain, a short-term visitor pass holder returning from Russia, and a student pass holder returning from India.

All imported cases were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore. They tested positive while delivering their notices to specialized facilities.

Hi Five, an Indian-Muslim food establishment in the Rochor area, was the only new location added to a list of places visited by Covid-19 infected patients on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Health provides the list of places that these patients visited for at least 30 minutes and the hours they visited so that people who were in those places monitor their health closely for two weeks from the date of their visit.

The full list of locations and hours can be found on the gov.sg website.

The ministry has said that close contacts would have already been reported and that there is no need to avoid these places as they would have been cleaned up if necessary.

The average number of daily new cases in the community in a week has decreased from one case a day two weeks ago to less than one a day last week.

The number of unrelated cases in the community in a week has also decreased from a daily average of less than one case per day to none in the same period.

With 12 cases discharged on Tuesday, 57,737 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 39 patients remained in hospital Wednesday, none in intensive care, while 70 recovered in community facilities.

Singapore has had 28 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 38.1 million people. More than 1.08 million people have died.
