SINGAPORE – A 25-year-old Singaporean woman whose case is not linked was one of four community cases of Covid-19 confirmed on Friday (August 28).

She had symptoms on August 22 and was confirmed to have the coronavirus on Thursday.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said it was detected under its enhanced regimen to test all people 13 years of age and older who are diagnosed with an acute respiratory infection when they first see a doctor.

The other three community cases had been quarantined before and one of them was asymptomatic, the Health Ministry said.

In general, the number of new cases in the community has been stable at an average of two cases per day in the last two weeks. The number of unrelated cases in the community has also remained stable at an average of one case per day for the past two weeks.

94 new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Friday (August 28), bringing Singapore’s total to 56,666.

There were also 10 imported cases among the new patients, including three Singaporeans, four permanent residents, a dependent pass holder, a long-term visit pass holder, and a short-term visit pass holder.

Among the imported cases were an 88-year-old Singaporean man and a six-year-old girl who is the holder of a dependent pass.

Both had returned from India and were confirmed positive on Thursday.

All imported cases had been placed on notice of admission or had been isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Of the 80 remaining cases residing in dormitories, 58 are from Sungei Tengah Lodge and had previously been quarantined.

The Health Ministry said that the vast majority of them were evaluated during quarantine to determine their status, or were collected through routine tests listed.

On August 22, a coronavirus cluster was announced at Sungei Tengah Lodge. After the group was detected, the Health Ministry placed about 4,500 workers in quarantine and has so far analyzed about 3,000 of them.

The ministry added that it expects the number of dormitory cases to remain high in the coming days until testing of the remaining quarantined workers is completed.

With 198 cases discharged on Friday, 55,322 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.

A total of 71 patients remain in the hospital while 1,231 recover in community facilities. None are in intensive care.

Singapore has had 27 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
