SINGAPORE – 24 new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Thursday (December 17), all of which were imported.

This is the highest number of imported cases since March 28, when there were 42.

The most recent cases were placed on stay-at-home notices or isolated upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

Among them, 13 are Singaporean returning or permanent residents of Singapore.

On Wednesday, two Singaporeans were among the 12 new coronavirus cases announced by the Health Ministry.

The 12 new cases were imported and placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

In addition to the two Singaporeans, the remaining imported cases include two permanent residents (PRs), four work permit holders, two dependent pass holders, one long term visit pass holder and one short visit pass holder. term.

The PRs returned from the Philippines and India, while the work permit holders, who are currently employed in Singapore, came from India, Myanmar and Indonesia.

There were no new cases in the community or in the workers’ bedrooms.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with no new cases in the last week.

With five cases discharged on Wednesday, 58,223 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.

A total of 25 patients remained in hospitals as of Wednesday night, none in intensive care, and 61 patients were still recovering in community facilities.

Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
