SINGAPORE – In the days leading up to Christmas, 24 men between the ages of 20 and 48 were arrested on suspicion of belonging to illegal companies.
The men were arrested between Monday (December 21) and Thursday in an island-wide operation carried out in several “congregation hot spots” and shopping malls to suppress the activities of the secret society, police said in a statement. Thursday.

The arrests were made by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, the Central Police Division and the Jurong Police Division.
Police added that they will continue to monitor the situation and intensify enforcement operations across the island during the holiday season at the end of the year to deter gang activities that threaten public safety.
Anyone found guilty of being a member of a secret society can be fined up to $ 5,000, imprisoned for up to three years, or both.
Police also said they have zero tolerance for secret society activities and will not hesitate to take action against those who choose to associate with gangs and blatantly disobey the law.
“Members of the public are advised to stay away from secret society activities and to immediately report those who engage in such activities to the police,” they added in Thursday’s statement.
