SINGAPORE – Two new coronavirus cases were confirmed at noon on Sunday (November 8), bringing Singapore’s total to 58,456.

Both were imported cases that had been placed on stay-at-home notices when they arrived in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said on Sunday.

There were no new cases in the community or in the workers’ bedrooms.

More details will be announced Sunday night.

On Saturday, the Health Ministry reported seven new cases of coronavirus, all of which were imported.

There were no new cases in the community or in workers’ bedrooms for the second day in a row.

Among the seven imported cases, two are Singaporean: a 59-year-old woman who had been to the UK and a 46-year-old man who had traveled to Canada.

Another is a permanent resident, a 55-year-old woman who had been to South Korea.

Two of the new cases are currently employed here: a 28-year-old man who has a work pass who came from the Netherlands and a 36-year-old man who has a work permit who came from Malaysia.

The two remaining cases are holders of short-term visitation passes.

One, a 69-year-old woman, was allowed into Singapore from the UK to visit her son, who is public relations.

The other is a 25-year-old man who came from Ukraine to board a ship docked here as a crew member.

Of the new cases, five are asymptomatic and were detected through proactive screening and surveillance by the Ministry of Health, while two were symptomatic.

The Health Ministry added that the group in Westlite Toh Guan Dormitory at 18 Toh Guan Road East has been closed as there have been no new cases related to it for two incubation periods or 28 days.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with a total of one of those cases in the last week not currently linked.

With nine cases discharged on Saturday, 57,953 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
