SINGAPORE: Two Singaporean men aged 28 and 43 were arrested for alleged drug-related activities after waging a “violent struggle” during a joint operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) and the Singapore Police (SPF) on Thursday (September 3).
CNB and SPF agents raided a residence in the vicinity of Geylang Lorong 27 on Thursday night.
“The forced entry occurred because the man refused to obey the officers’ legal orders to open the door,” CNB said in a press release on Friday.
“When officers approached to arrest the two men, they both fought violently and force was used to subdue them.”
Officers conducted a search of the residence and seized drugs totaling approximately S $ 410,000 and numerous drug-related paraphernalia.
During the raid, officers also found a karambit knife, a parang knife and a baseball bat, as well as cash worth S $ 15,830, CNB said.
The seized drugs included a package of approximately 1.1 kg of ice or crystalline methamphetamine, 29 packages containing approximately 199 g of ice in total, approximately 56 g of heroin, 1,000 tablets of Erimin-5 and seven tablets of ecstasy.
The total amount of ice seized, about 1.3 kg, is enough to fuel the addiction of about 744 drug addicts for a week, CNB said.
Investigations into the suspects’ drug activities are ongoing, CNB said.
Police are also investigating the two men for possession of offensive weapons.
