2 Men Arrested For Cheating $ 69k Ecommerce Site By Claiming No Purchases

Two men, ages 23 and 24, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the scam of an e-commerce platform worth more than $ 69,000.

Police said in a statement that they received a report on November 6 that multiple suspicious refund transactions were conducted on an e-commerce platform.

“Through follow-up investigations, agents from the Central Police Division established the identity of the two men and arrested them separately on Wednesday (November 11) and Thursday (November 12),” police said.

“Items worth approximately $ 6,000 were recovered and seized.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men are believed to have created multiple accounts to purchase items on the e-commerce platform.

After receiving the items, they had allegedly submitted refund requests claiming that they had not received the items.

The duo are believed to have made close to 50 refund transactions for more than $ 69,000.

Investigations are ongoing.

The crime of cheating carries a prison sentence of up to ten years and a fine.
