SINGAPORE: Two men are accused of assaulting a man with weapons in a cemetery on Sunday (May 10), leaving him with injuries including facial lacerations, puncture wounds to the legs and a deformity to the arm.
Andre Chen Si’En, 29, and Gervan Wong Jun Heng, 24, were charged Tuesday with one count of voluntarily causing serious pain of common intent to Douglas Wong Wei Hao.
According to the charge sheets, the attack took place at approximately 3 a.m. at the Choa Chu Kang Cemetery on Sunday.
Chen is accused of using a knuckle to hit the victim’s head and body, while Wong allegedly used a metal baton to attack his head and body.
The alleged assault left the victim with injuries that included: a 4 cm laceration to the head, a severed forehead, swollen lips, multiple abrasions on both arms, a deformity on his left arm, as well as multiple abrasions, puncture wounds and lacerations. on both legs. .
Police said in an earlier statement that they were alerted at 5.40 a.m. from a case of a 30-year-old man who was found with multiple injuries, including lacerations to the head and a fractured hand on Bishan Street 12. He was taken to the hospital while he was conscious, and the police identified the two perpetrators and arrested them within 10 hours after the report was filed.
If found guilty of willfully causing serious injury by weapons or dangerous means, the two men can be jailed for life, or up to 15 years, and fined or convicted.
Both men were sent for investigations.
Gervan Wong faces more than 20 other charges, which was released before Tuesday’s case.
These include: hitting a man at the Studio M Hotel with an extendable baton in a hotel room, hitting two men with a knife with various other accomplices, drug use, and traffic offenses.
Police said they do not tolerate “such blatant acts of violence and blatant disregard for the law.”
Both will return to court on May 19.
