SINGAPORE: Two food and beverage establishments were ordered to be temporarily closed for failing to comply with COVID-19 security measures, the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment (MSE) said on Wednesday (January 6).
Fifteen people were also fined S $ 300 each for gathering and sitting in groups larger than the size allowed in restaurants.
In Phase 3 of Singapore’s reopening, which began on December 28, social gatherings of up to eight people are allowed.

Meltz Resto-Bar at 24 Race Course Road was ordered closed after it allowed a group of 10 people to sit together on Dec. 31 at around 9:30 p.m., MSE said.
It also did not conduct temperature tests or implement SafeEntry for its customers.
Meltz Resto-Bar, which has a restaurant license under the name Chennai Kitchen, is due to close between January 1 and 10.
The V5 Tycoon Club at 21 Cuscaden Road was also ordered to close from January 1 to 10 after it allowed customers to consume alcohol at 11.15 p.m. Under COVID-19 regulations, alcohol should not be served or consumed in the F&B facilities after 10.30pm
The nightclub was allowed to reopen as a food and drink establishment, with no live entertainment or singing, after obtaining a food store license.
Three other F&B stores, Club Lux at Orchard Plaza, Epophyte at 47 Neil Road and TCC at International Building, were fined S $ 1,000 each for violating security measures.
These include customer seating groups less than 1m apart, not guaranteeing a distance of 1m between customers in a queue, and providing games to customers despite not being an entertainment center.

During the year-end holiday period, a total of eight F&B stores were ordered closed, 26 tickets were issued to F&B stores and 51 people were fined for COVID-19 security breaches, MSE said.
“While Singapore has advanced to Phase 3 reopening, there is still local transmission of COVID-19 in the community,” MSE said.
Businesses and the public must continue to adhere to SMMs to keep community transmission low, the ministry added.
“We urge everyone to remain socially responsible, keeping group sizes small and wearing a mask at all times at F&B facilities, unless drinking or eating.”
