Additionally, 21 diners were fined $ 300 each for disobeying Covid-19 measures, such as not wearing a mask immediately after eating or drinking, mingling between tables, and sitting in groups of more than five.

These violations were observed at Resorts World Sentosa, Boat Quay and Clarke Quay restaurants, the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment (MSE) said in a statement yesterday.

The two outlets ordered to close are Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot and Invincible Noodle House. Both restaurants are located on Boat Quay.

At Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot at 6 Lorong Telok, nine customers sat at two tables and mingled in a private room on October 3 at 9:15 p.m.

That same night, Invincible Noodle House at 13 Circular Road had several customers consuming alcohol at 11:40 p.m., the ministry said.

Under the Covid-19 Law (Temporary Measures), the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited after 10:30 p.m.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority ordered both operators to close their facilities for 10 days from October 6 to 15 and October 3 to 12, respectively.

The 13 outlets were fined for groups of seats from more than five from different households together, allowing groups to mix between tables, groups of seats less than 1 meter apart and handlers are not guaranteed to food use masks correctly.

Twelve of the outlets were fined $ 1,000 for violating the measures and one was fined $ 2,000 for repeat offenses.

MSE reiterated that masks should be worn at all times, regardless of the facility, with the exception of eating and drinking or strenuous exercise.
