SINGAPORE: Grocery vouchers were sent to 150,000 Singaporeans to help with household expenses, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said on Saturday (October 10).

Singaporeans 21 and older this year living in HDB 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments, and owning no more than one property, are eligible for these vouchers.

Recipients will receive grocery coupons worth S $ 150 in October and a further S $ 150 in December. Another tranche of grocery coupons worth S $ 100 will be issued to eligible Singaporeans in October next year.

“Eligible recipients will receive coupons by certified mail at their registered address with NRIC in October 2020,” the Health Ministry said, adding that an application is not required.

Each eligible household member will receive their vouchers individually, the ministry added in its press release.

Grocery coupons are valid until December 31, 2021 and can be used at participating FairPrice, Giant, Prime Supermarket and Sheng Siong Supermarket supermarkets.

“To help Singaporeans lead a healthier lifestyle, recipients will enjoy up to a 5% discount on all Healthier Choice Symbol products, capped at 5% of the coupon value, when paying with grocery coupons at FairPrice, Prime and Sheng Siong Supermarkets, “said MOF.

Announced in the Unit Budget on February 18, the grocery vouchers are intended to help “less affluent Singaporeans with their household expenses during this period of extraordinary economic uncertainty,” the ministry added.
