SINGAPORE – Fourteen public entertainment venues have been seized by police for disobeying Covid-19 rules, liquor license conditions, or both.
Police said on Wednesday (October 7) that the crimes were discovered after a month-long execution operation by the Central Police Division at public entertainment venues and massage establishments in Chinatown, Central Mall, Bugis, Jalan Kiss and Little India.
Investigations are still underway on the 14 public entertainment venues and details were not immediately available.
Police operations also found that 21 massage establishments have violated the rules. Sixteen of these establishments operated without a license, while another five were caught breaking the rules of the massage establishment.
Five of the sixteen unlicensed salons were found to be providing sexual services illegally.
During the controls of the massage parlors, the police arrested 19 people. Six were arrested for offenses under the Employment of Foreign Labor Law, while three others were arrested for offenses under the Employment of Foreign Workforce Law and the Immigration Law.
Five women between 28 and 38 years old were arrested for crimes contemplated in the Women’s Charter, while another four women between 30 and 42 years old were arrested for crimes contemplated in the Employment of Foreign Labor Law and the Charter of the woman.
A 39-year-old man was arrested for using criminal force to dissuade a public servant from doing his duty.
Police said action will be taken against roving operators, adding that they “take a serious opinion against anyone who may be involved in such criminal activities and those found to be participating in such activities will be treated in accordance with the law.”
