SINGAPORE – 14 new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Tuesday (January 26), all of which were imported.

The imported cases were placed on a stay-at-home notice upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

There were no new cases in the community for the fourth day in a row, and none in workers’ bedrooms.

Tuesday’s new cases bring Singapore’s total to 59,366.

Three other of the new cases were holders of student passes who arrived from France, Indonesia and Kazakhstan.

Six more cases were work pass holders from Bangladesh, India, Japan, Poland and Spain. There were also 17 work permit holders who returned from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The last four cases announced on Monday were short-term visitor pass holders who arrived from India to visit relatives here.

The number of new cases in the community in one week increased to 13 last week, from 10 cases in the previous week.

The number of unrelated cases in the community in one week decreased to three in the last week, from four in the previous week.

With 25 cases discharged on Monday, 59,051 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 59 patients remain in the hospital, while 198 recover in community facilities. None are in intensive care.

Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December 2019, has infected more than 99.1 million people. More than 2.1 million people have died.
