13 New Covid-19 Cases in Singapore, All Imported, Health News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE – Thirteen new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Monday (March 8), bringing Singapore’s total to 60,046.

All the new infections were imported, and people stayed home or isolated upon arrival, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

Arriving from countries including India, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Myanmar, they were comprised of two permanent residents, a dependent pass holder, a long-term visit pass holder, a work pass holder, seven work and a short-term visitor pass holder.

No new community cases or cases in workers’ bedrooms were reported.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community increased from three cases in the previous week to four cases in the last week.

The number of unrelated cases in the community also increased from two cases in the previous week to three cases in the last week.

With six cases discharged on Monday, 59,885 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 21 patients remain in the hospital, including one in critical condition in the intensive care unit, while 96 are recovering in community facilities.

Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December 2019, has infected more than 115.6 million people. More than 2.6 million people have died.
