More than 11,900 bookings were registered on the first day of the SingapoRediscovers coupon redemption, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said yesterday.

As of 4:30 p.m. yesterday, the reservations received in five platforms totaled around 1.86 million dollars in coupons and payments.

A spokesperson for STB said: “There was a good mix of bookings in the hotel, attractions and tour industries, as well as a healthy interest in cross-industry package packages.”

He added that more than 4,000 Singaporeans visited the 53 community centers or clubs (CCs) to request information about the vouchers.

As part of the $ 320 million plan, all Singaporeans over the age of 18 will receive vouchers worth $ 100 to boost spending on local tourism.

While there are more than 280 product offerings currently available, STB said more deals would be rolled out on a rolling basis.

Head of corporate communications Reza Amirul Juniarshah at Traveloka, one of the five authorized booking platforms, said yesterday that traffic had increased up to 15 times compared to normal periods.

Other booking platforms like GlobalTix and Trip.com also saw a steady stream of bookings or signs of interest.

Part-time taxi driver Ng Beng Lam, 72, who was first in line at Tampines East CC to redeem his coupons, said he was satisfied with the process.

He managed to redeem three tickets each for the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark and the Singapore Flyer under Klook, which had its booking services established at the CC.

Mr. Ng said: “I didn’t have much difficulty because the staff helped me. I didn’t have to do much.”

Another Singaporean, 67-year-old Madam Chin Lew Lee, who redeemed two tickets for the Singapore Flyer, said: “My husband hasn’t been there before so I want to take him. It’s boring to be locked up at home during the pandemic. It will be a good one. chance to get out. “

Taxi driver Song Hwee Tin, 61, was disappointed that she couldn’t book two tickets to Universal Studios Singapore because they sold out.

She went to CC to learn how the process works to help her neighbor and felt that the procedures were complicated.

Sarah Wan, Klook’s marketing director for Southeast Asia, noted that some popular activities resumed in the early hours. She said: “We have been working closely with our merchants to ensure that our inventory is restocked as soon as possible. In fact, most of these out-of-stock activities have already been completed.”
