SINGAPORE – Five women and seven men were charged on Friday (October 2) with violating COVID-19 safe distancing measures during a trip to Lazarus Island in August.

Luong is a permanent resident Vietnamese citizen of Singapore, Sarkies is from Singapore and the remaining 10 are British citizens.
Each of them faces the charge of meeting outside a place of residence that was not for work purposes on August 8, 2020, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., on Lazaro Island. In Phase 2 of Singapore’s reopening, which began on June 19, only up to five people per group are allowed in social gatherings.
All defendants are subject to a personal bond of $ 2,000.
Gold has indicated that he will plead guilty to his charge and the next mention of his case is October 14. The cases of the other defendants will be heard again on October 23.
If convicted, each can be jailed for up to six months and / or fined up to $ 10,000.
