SINGAPORE – 11 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed as of Tuesday noon (October 6), bringing Singapore’s total to 57,830.
They included two community cases and five cases of workers’ dormitories, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.
There were also four imported cases that were included in stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.
More details will be announced Tuesday night.
On Monday, the Ministry of Health reported that an infectious coronavirus patient visited a Sheng Siong facility in Tanglin Halt on September 27 between 6:05 PM and 6:30 AM.
A new case was also announced in the community. The 15-year-old girl, an Indian citizen, had been identified as a contact for a previously confirmed case who is a member of her household, and was quarantined last Saturday.
She developed symptoms on Sunday and was examined and later taken to a hospital when the test result came back positive the same day.
She is a student at a private school and was in school for the last time last Friday before showing symptoms of infection.
The Ministry of Health did not specify the school he attended.
An imported patient was also announced on Monday.
The 50-year-old permanent resident came to Singapore from India and tested positive on Sunday.
He showed no symptoms when tested, the Health Ministry said.
He was issued a 14-day stay-at-home notice and was tested while in a dedicated facility.
Migrant workers living in dormitories made up the remaining five of seven new coronavirus patients announced Monday.
The average number of new daily cases in the community in a week has increased from less than one case two weeks ago to one case in the last week.
However, the number of unrelated cases in the community has remained stable at an average of less than one case per day for the past two weeks.
With 22 cases discharged on Monday, 57,582 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 42 patients remained in the hospital on Monday, none in intensive care, while 153 recovered in community facilities.
Singapore has had 27 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected around 35.1 million people. More than 1.7 million people have died.
