SINGAPORE – 10 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed as of noon on Tuesday (December 1), bringing Singapore’s total to 58.228.

These included eight imported cases that had been put on stay-at-home notice upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

A case of a foreign worker dormitory was announced after 20 consecutive days with no cases in the dormitories.

A case was also announced in the community on Tuesday.

More details will be announced Tuesday evening.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health reported a single case of Covid-19 in the community.

The patient is asymptomatic and his infection was detected when he went for a Covid-19 test before departure last Saturday before a trip to the United States.

He is a 35-year-old Nepalese man with a short-term visit pass in Singapore. He was allowed into the country to visit relatives who are Singaporean.

The patient arrived in Singapore from Nepal on November 1 and received a 14-day stay-at-home notice (SHN) upon arrival until November 15. It tested negative for Covid-19 on November 11 while under SHN. After that, he stayed at a friend’s apartment at 22 Bishan Street and visited his family at 6 Yishun Avenue, the Health Ministry said in a press release Monday night.

Your case is currently unrelated.

He was rushed to the hospital when his test came back positive Sunday. The Health Ministry also said that his serological test result was positive, indicating a probable past infection.

The ministry said epidemiological investigations are ongoing and all identified close contacts have been isolated and quarantined. Tests will be conducted at the beginning and end of their quarantine periods.

On Monday, the Health Ministry also reported four imported Covid-19 cases, including one Singaporean and three work permit holders.

The Singaporean is a 31-year-old man who returned from Japan. Two of the work permit holders came from Indonesia and one from India.

All four were placed at SHN in specialized facilities upon arrival. All were asymptomatic when tested, and they tested positive while still on SHN.

The Health Ministry added several locations, including Ion Orchard, to the list of places visited by Covid-19 patients while they were infectious.

He added that close contacts would have already been notified and that there was no need to avoid these places as they would have been cleaned up if necessary.

Another 10 patients were discharged on Monday, bringing the total number of patients who have fully recovered to 58,119.

A total of 29 patients remained in the hospital, none in intensive care, while 26 recovered in community facilities.

Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 62.7 million people. More than 1.45 million people have died.
