Simon Cowell arrived at the hospital on Saturday after an accident with his electric bike left him with a back injury.
Reps for the America’s Got Talent judge first told People that the accident happened Saturday afternoon when Cowell was testing the car at his home in Malibu with family. The TV personality is doing well, told reps Deadline
“Simon had a fall from his bike on Saturday afternoon while testing his new electric bike in the courtyard at his home in Malibu with his family,” said a spokesman for the Hollywood producer. ‘He hurt his back and was taken to hospital. He is doing well, he is under observation and is in the best possible hands. ‘
The spokesman added that “Simon has broken his back and will undergo surgery this evening.”
Deadline reached out to NBC and Fremantle for comment on how the operation would affect Cowell’s duty America’s Got Talent, which is currently in production.
In July, it was announced that Cowell would take full control AGT en The X Factor producer Syco Entertainment. The acquisition comes after he agreed to buy the stake in Sony Music Entertainment in the joint venture.
