Crunchyroll and Adult Swim are also working with game creator U Suzuki, who will serve as executive producer.
“Shanmoon’s world is fascinating and unique, and we’re excited to partner with U Suzuki to bring its epic to anime – and create a kick-ash martial arts epic,” said Jason DeMarco, vice president of Adult Swim, in a statement.
Sakurai Chicara (Season Two of One Punch) will direct the Shenmu series animated by the telecom animation film. The series will stream on CrunchyRoll and air on Adult Swim.
The plot for the anime mirrors the story of the Shenmu video game series. Shenmu 3, which spans three games, was officially released in 2019, almost 20 years after the second game. Read IGN’s Shenmu3 review here.
