Recent teasing and rumors about Shenmu The video game series was fruitful on Friday with a surprise announcement at the Virtual Crunchy Roll Expo: Sect Sega Game Series will soon receive an anime adaptation, complete with creator U Suzuki on board as executive producer.
Immediately after the expo’s release, Crunchyrol issued an official announcement, confirming that production on the anime studio telecom animation film with a single-season, 13-episode commitment is already underway. The episodes will air on the “Tunami” block of Adult Swim in the United States, while Crunchy Roll will take its streaming rights to most parts of the world. No dates were attached to the news.
The ad did not confirm any strict details about what to expect from the plot. Suzuki-Sun says on record that they want to continue telling the story of the series after the 2019 events Shenmu III, But at least one insider, who tidied up the news days before the gaming forum Risera was official, suggested that the new series would have to revisit:
This [Shenmue TV] The season solves the first game and part of the second game. There are many story ideas that never get put into the game due to budget, time or mature rating reasons. It will be adult animated retailing Shenmu 1 and 2 Lost story with a beat.
If that obviously well-placed source should be true, it would be great news for anyone interested in the story, characters, and atmosphere of the series’ first two games – but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re interested in their deptting gameplay. The same can be said for any final anime version Shenmu III, A game that broke Kickstarter records (and melted Kickstarter servers) when it was announced in 2015 but did not blow away fans four years later.
