Shark Week 2020 TV Schedule: Programming Line-Up for Discovery Channel


Baby Shark’s has nothing to do with these awesome whites!

Starting this Sunday and continuing through next weekend, Discovery Channel’s Shark Week is an annual, Jaws-drip spectacle with more than 20 hours of original programming about one of nature’s most feared predators.

In addition to myriad documentaries, 2020 includes star-studded lineup Tyson Vs. Jaws: Rumble on the Reef, who pits legendary boxer Mike Tyson against a black tip reef shark; Shaq attack, in which NBA veteran Shaquille O’Neal tries to determine which shark has the perfect predatory attack; Adam Devine’s Secret Shark Lair, a comedy special that reunites Devine Workaholics co-stars Anders Holm and Blake Anderson; en Will Smith: Off the Deep End, in which the actor / rapper confronts his fear of the open sea.

Mike Tyson 'Shark Week' SpecialSUNDAY 9 AUGUST

8 pm Air Jaws: Ultimate Breach Off
Three teams of researchers return to one of the last hunting grounds. They will use decoys, drones and underwater cameras to count the number of burglaries and gather data on hunting techniques to see if the shark population has recovered.

9 pm Tyson Vs. Jaws: Rumble on the Reef
Legendary boxer and entrepreneur Mike Tyson takes on a new challenge … and he tackles the most unlikely training partner. Iron Mike will go head to head with some of the ocean’s top apex predators, including the shark of the black tip reef. With famed ring expert Michael Buffer naming the shooters, these two heavyweights will be underwater square, where Mike Tyson will attempt to score a TKO over the massive shark … all in the name of research. And do not worry, no sharks were harmed (or bitten) while making this episode.

10 pm Main lock
In the waters off New Zealand, the largest female large whites measure more than 20ft long, earning the nickname “the 747s.” With no human interaction during COVID-19, researchers built a self-steering cage to see how hunting patterns have changed.

MONDAY, AUGUST 10

8 pm Abandoned Waters (FKA Sharks of Neptune)
COVID-19 has changed the behavior of the world and this has presented shark researchers with a once in a lifetime opportunity to study the massive large whites on the Neptune Islands of Australia. With no human interaction for the first time in decades, some of the largest great white sharks on earth are back to their natural behavior … allowing scientists to study them closely and personally in ways that were previously impossible.

10 pm Jaws Awakens
Shark expert Chris Fallows joins Jeff Kurr and Dickie Chivell in search of the largest male great white shark in the world. Together, Chris, Jeff and Dickie explore the waters of New Zealand and visit a nearly 20 meter long, two ton shark named Fred.

Tuesday, August 11th

8 pm Extinct as living: Land of the lost sharks
Wild biologist and conservator Forrest Galante dives into some of the most treacherous, shark-infested waters in the southern hemisphere, all in an attempt to discover three unique sharks that have been lost to science for as long as 100 years.

9 pm Will Smith: Off the Deep End
Will Smith dives for the first time into action, excitement and shark-infested waters, while confronting his fear of the open seas and the open jaws of nature’s wildest predators.

Shark Week 202010 pm Great White Serial Killer Extinction
The Great White Serial Killer is back and it’s about a murderous bottom that could push the Otter of California to extinction. Investigators deploy an otter dummy to take a closer look and witness one of the most spectacular attacks in Shark Week history.

Wednesday 12 August

8 pm Monster Under the Bridge
Scientists believe that monster sharks make their home under the Old Seven Mile Bridge. Fishermen claim that one of the sharks is an 18-foot-long, one-ton hammerhead named Big Moe. If this is true, he will be the greatest hammerhead on the planet.

Last year, Adam Devine and a team of marine biologists deployed a CATS camera tag on a massive tiger shark that yielded a surprising scientific discovery; in SECRET TIGER SHARK LAIR. Australia is in the midst of a rising wave of shark attacks, with large whites leading the way. And scientists have just discovered that Aussies do not have one population of large whites, but two and researchers want to know who controls the water.

Thursday, August 13th

8 pm Air Jaws 2020
Shark Week celebrates 20 years of flying sharks with Jeff Kurr, Chris Fallows, Dickie Chivell and many more as they watch the most popular and iconic “Air Jaws” moments.

9 pm Jaws in America
Snoop Dogg looks at why the Great White Sharks are taking up residence off the coast of America. Will this be the ‘sharkiest’ summer in American history? In this particular, Snoop will break up the craziest shark encounters caught on tape, marvel at the wild and unpredictable reactions, and meet with the leading experts trying to unravel the secrets behind this great white shark invasion.

10 pm Mako Nation
Shark expert Riley Elliot and underwater cameraman Andy Casagrande are on an epic expedition to discover the mysteries of the mako shark in one of the last places on earth where these apex predators rule the water.

Friday, August 14th

8 pm Alien Sharks: first contact
Mysterious & bizarre alien sharks lurk far below the waves in remarkably deep waters, where researchers are looking to make first contact. The pursuit of the escaped frilled shark, sleeping shark and cookie cutter shark bring even more unexpected encounters.

9 pm Lair of the Great White
A team of experts is trying to figure out why a population of large whites off the coast of Western Australia is so more aggressive than others. The team must brave the elements and venture into treacherous underwater caves to figure out for themselves.

10 pm Tiger Shark King
In the Caribbean Sea, a deep-sea camera captured footage of a 14-foot tiger shark suffering from an attack by a large, invisible animal. It could be an unknown species of mega-shark or even a cannibalistic tiger shark. Dr. Austin Gallagher wants to figure it out.

11 pm I Was Prey Shark Week 2
Two adventure seekers recount their horrific shark attack experiences. Off the coast of Australia, a spearfish expedition turns into a nightmare with a fierce bull shark and a large white killer whale on Ascension Island.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 15

8 pm Sharks from Ghost Island
At the edge of the Bermuda Triangle lies Ghost Island, a place that residents have abandoned after multiple shipwrecks and shark attacks. Dr. Craig O’Connell has been here before to study the potential hot spot, but his first voyage ended abruptly when his boat nearly sank. Now Craig is back with a team of experts and they are determined to find out why this island attracts so many sharks, even the great white one.

9 pm Wicked Sharks
Because the number of great white sharks on Cape Cod spikes, shark expert Dr. Greg Skomal advanced technology to capture the point of view of the great white shark – and revealed exactly how and where they hunt in the summer to better protect it publicly.

Everything you always wanted to know about viral shark videos, but you were scared to ask! Sharks Gone Wild 3 reviews everything from viral videos and the biggest news stories to the latest in extensive shark science.

11 pm I Was Prey: Terrors from the Deep
A California surfer, a Canadian thrill-seeker, an Alabama football coach and a mother from North Carolina revealed how they each came face-to-face with the top predator of the ocean and lived to tell their stories.

SUNDAY 16 AUGUST

8 pm Naked & afraid of sharks 2
At the edge of the Bermuda Triangle, five Naked and scared veterans – Matt Wright, Jeff Zausch, Serena and Amber Shine and Alex Manard – try to survive on a remote strip of islands whose waters are so full of predators, the locals call it “Shark Alley.” With limited resources and punitive conditions on land, they have no choice but to take to the water and compete with hungry sharks for the same food.
