The judge of the Court of Appeals, Miodrag Majić, declared that he will not be a candidate for the presidency of Serbia in the next elections, despite his name being increasingly mentioned in the public as a “good proposal” for the president of the state .
In an interview with Betty, which the agency will publish tomorrow, Majic said he was convinced that the reason for mentioning it lies in the fact that citizens have been “hungry” for justice for too long.
“That is why they tend to view a judge who speaks openly about the problems of the judiciary as a desirable president. I see myself as a judge. Even in the circumstances here, I consider it one of the most honorable occupations, and I wouldn’t quit so easily if they didn’t chase them away, “Majic said.
He says he’s not sure he’s a good populist and that the masses would like him. He asserted that politics unfortunately requires a dose of unscrupulousness to tell falsehoods and accept compromises, for which he is not prepared.
“I don’t feel good lying and doing calculations. I prefer to be attacked and abandoned until I am ashamed and while I speak the truth. And that is not a good recipe for the local president, ”said the judge.
When asked by Beta if he had had discussions with the opposition representatives on this matter, Judge Majić replied briefly: “I didn’t.
