A Serbian woman (24), who was tried in France for the death of her nine-month-old son, was acquitted before the Montpellier court, and the judge explained his decision with the words “that the mother knows her guilt, because she lost to his son by his own negligence. ” already sentenced to life imprisonment. “According to the French portal Midi libre, the tragedy occurred on October 7, 2019 in Montpellier.
She was sick
– The Serbian woman was in an apartment with three small children. She put the baby in the tub to bathe, while leaving the other two children, ages five and three and a half, to care for her brother, because she was sick and had a stomach virus. She peeked into the bathroom several times, and when she went in for the last time, the baby was floating in the tub; the media gave details of the tragedy. During the sentencing of September 21, sobs and painful sighs were heard from the mother in the courtroom. – I know I’m guilty, but I didn’t want that to happen. My husband was in jail and a younger cousin was with me. Two older children were bathing. The youngest son had a fever and I wanted to bathe him too – growled the mother and continued: – It was too sweet. Although he was not even a year old, he was already on his feet. I thought that she could be alone with her brother and sister for a few moments, because my stomach hurt and I had to go to the bathroom. When I came out, I looked and saw him standing in the bathtub, so I went to the living room. After two or three minutes, I went back to the bathroom and my son was floating. It was terrible – he said and began to cry.
Autopsy
There was no abuse
According to French media, the autopsy of the baby’s body showed that the baby died as a result of drowning. – There were no injuries on his body, nor could it be concluded that the child was abused or neglected – say the media.
The prosecutor requested that the Serbian woman be sentenced to two years in prison, without the possibility of parole. – The child died due to the mother’s negligence. That would not have happened if she had been with him and took care of him – said the prosecutor.
Fighting adversity
However, during the delivery of the verdict, the judge said “that we all know that children should not be neglected.” – The irony of fate is that your baby died the day before his birthday. Since then, she dreams of her son every night, and almost every day she takes cakes to his grave. Whenever he leaves the house, he kisses his photo, which is in the apartment surrounded by candles – the judge pointed out and added: – This mother knows her guilt. She was carelessly left without a son. She has already been sentenced to life imprisonment because she will live with her guilt. She always fought against adversity. She takes care of her other children, who suffer from physical disorders, on a daily basis. Take them to a physical therapist, ophthalmologist, psychiatrist, speech therapist, pediatrician, geneticist. Well, please don’t reduce her to an irresponsible mother.
