He told a guest on TV Prva that we will see the effects of the measures this week.
– There is already a slight decrease in Belgrade, but the pressure on hospitals remains great, especially in the capital. A large number of Belgrade inhabitants are still being treated outside their city – said Dr. Kon adding that “we will already have 1200 to 1400 for Belgrade today, but then we will also have 1800 new infected”.
At a high level, the number of newly infected has also stabilized in Novi Sad, he added.
– Now the most important thing is that hospitalization is still very high and that is the biggest problem – said Dr. Kon, adding that “the resistance of the health system is at its limits and that there is nothing it can bear without limits” .
Regarding the presenter’s statement that Saint Nicholas will soon be celebrated, and then the New Year and Christmas holidays, Dr. Kon said that “the most important thing is the arrival of our people from abroad.”
– Preparations must be made there, we will have to have quarantines and isolations, that will be discussed at the next meeting – he said.
Asked whether a PCR test would be mandatory for them, he said the profession “fully suggested what would be done” and emphasized that “closing the borders is impossible.”
Also, it states that we are at the top now and that Belgrade was at the top in the previous two weeks.
– My opinion is that if we are not able to understand this situation, then the State should simply agree to close everything – he adds.
His message is that we will get through all of this, and right now, the smartest thing to do is wear masks, keep your distance, and use disinfectants.
Earlier today, the director of the KCS Infectious Diseases Clinic, Dr. Goran Stevanović, appealed to citizens not to treat themselves at home.
– All patients who do not need oxygen support should be placed in institutions where there is no central oxygen supply. The number of examinations in triage centers is not decreasing, and it is worrying that lately we have more and more patients with a severe clinical picture who treat themselves – Stevanović pointed out, adding that at this time the only thing that can help us is respect of the measures.
Let us remind you, in the last 24 hours in Serbia, 14,486 people were tested for the corona virus, 5,809 of them tested positive, while sadly 58 people died.
