The girl died on Wednesday morning at the Tirsova Children’s University Clinic, where she was transferred from the Belgrade Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery after the condition worsened after five operations, three of which, as we know, were skin transplants.
As “Novosti” learns, the Superior Prosecutor’s Office issued an autopsy order. Once its results are known, the Prosecutor’s Office will decide on the steps to follow. After the autopsy, the date and place of the unfortunate girl’s burial will be known.
On Thursday there was silence on the lonely Visokog Stevana street in Dorcol, where Minja lived and where a fire broke out on the 10th floor in late October. Not even a day after the girl’s death, the neighbors spoke of Minja with tears in their eyes. None of them can yet believe that their “little neighbors are gone.”
– I cannot accept the truth that the child passed away. We have been crying since yesterday, since we found out that he succumbed to his injuries – he cried, our neighbor Ivana Atanacković tells us. – My son went to class with Minja when they went to “Braća Baruh” primary school. He was very moved by her death. We thought everything would be fine.

– And now I see Minja in front of my eyes and I hear her crying from the burning terrace – Jovanović says visibly shocked. – A great tragedy indeed. I have a granddaughter her age, they knew each other. Despite the work of those brave men in the play, that wonderful child left us. Our golden Minja is gone.
Mina’s death shook her family, friends, school friends … Apart from the five brave men from Pancevo who managed to risk their lives to save her from the terrace of the tenth floor, the news of her departure shocked two boys who donated skin for Mina. One of them, Ognjen Todorovic, 38, told reporters on Thursday:
– She didn’t last … I’m lying here all wounded and I can’t believe what happened … A part of us, me and Nenad Stanković, who also donated skin, went with her. I feel like someone of mine died the most born. It’s like my sister was born.
The fire broke out in the apartment on the 10th floor and Minja was alone in the bathroom at the time. The fire spread rapidly throughout the apartment, and the only way out for the girl was on the terrace, from where she asked for help. Workers at the nearby construction site Pavle Gavura, Lazar Ereš, Nemanja Držaić, David Nika and Nenad Janković saved her, lowering her from the terrace on the 10th to the 9th floor.

The public believed that the girl would go out, overcome serious and long treatments, but also that she would return to school with her family and friends, recovered and happy. Unfortunately, the consequences of the burns were fatal …

AFTER the fire, humanitarian people immediately offered help, first to repair the completely burned apartment, and blood and skin donors called very quickly. Compatible donors were Ognjen Todorović (38) and the young Nenad Stanković (18), whose skin was transplanted to the unfortunate Minja. They are still recovering from the operations they had.
