Miley Cyrus performed the Beatles “Help”. at an empty Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California, as part of Global Citizen’s “Global Goal: Unite for Our Future” live event on Saturday.
“For me, the magic of acting is sharing and celebrating music together… being around people and feeling their energy! During this time of COVID-19, we come together in a different way … we come together with the goal of ensuring that EVERYONE has access to solutions to end this pandemic, ”Cyrus tweeted on the cover.
“I dedicated this performance to everyone who works tirelessly for tests, treatments and vaccines so that we can all meet in places like this empty stadium … I can’t wait to be together again.”
For unique performance, a giant HELP! just as it was built at Rose Bowl Field, with Cyrus standing in the exclamation point period. Cyrus’ performance gave the Beatles classic a country twist, with the singer highlighting the now foreboding lyrics, “And now my life has changed in so many ways / My independence seems to fade into the mist.”
In addition to his performance, Cyrus sat down with Global Citizen to discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on underserved communities, as well as recent protests around the world.
“My generation is hungry for change and leads that burden in many ways. I have just been a student, in the last months and especially during the few weeks in my country of origin. I have been a student of these organizers and have been able to learn and educate myself. That’s something that takes up my time right now, even through Global Citizen, just educating me. I think that is the first step in making the change, ”said Cyrus.
“Young people are using their voices every day to demand that change, and especially now in this activism, even though change takes time, we want it to lead to lasting change. And something that had been on my mind was wanting to get back to normal, but this “new” normal of “We don’t want to go back to being like before.” We want to go to a more improved and inspired lifestyle. ‘”
