The Seattle Seahawks and the NFL have emphasized the importance of players, coaches and staff members limiting their contact with the outside world during the coronavirus pandemic.
Seahawks’ cornerback Kemah Siverand tried to run a tight end to the strict protocols, was caught and paid the price. The Seahawks cut the rookie after he was caught on video attempting to kill a female visitor in the team hotel during this training camp, according to a report.
Siverand, who signed with the Seahawks in May as a developed free agent, had disguised the visitor himself as a Seattle player.
Players are usually prohibited from having visitors in hotel rooms during training camp under normal circumstances. Having an unauthorized visitor outside the team hotel, with the highly contagious COVID-19 apparently appearing everywhere, puts the entire team at risk of infection. The Seahawks, who have created a bubble-like environment in camp, actually had no choice but to cut loose on Siverand.
Siverand, one of three developed free agent backs that the Seahawks signed prior to training camp, spent his first two seasons at Texas A&M before moving to Oklahoma State for the 2019 season. Siverand stood for long chances of earning a roster spot on the team, even if he stayed in the squad.
