The Minnesota Vikings will host George Floyd’s family at the US Bank Stadium for Sunday’s season opener against the Green Bay Packers.

The team announced Week 1 bias plans, including a recognition of Floyd’s family following a pre-arranged musical performance of James Weldon Johnson’s “Lift Everywhere and Voice Is and Sing”.

The Vikings have Announced They will not host fans of the first two home games against the Packers and the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 27.

Floyd was shot on May 26 by then-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who held Floyd in the neck for about nine minutes while he fell to the ground.

Floyd’s murder was one of many similar incidents that sparked widespread protests across the country and prompted athletes in all sports to take a public stand against police brutality and racial injustice.
