Season 3 of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ to follow a different path than the first 2 seasons

The Netflix original The Umbrella Academy is a refreshing recording about the superhero genre – absent from hypermasculinity, gender norms, and immortality of altruism. After all, there is a bunch of dysfunctional siblings trying to prevent an emerging apocalypse – while thinking and playing with the space-time continuum. They have very much problems with fatherhood and trust, and make their superpowers an extension of their daily rituals and life determination, instead of defining characteristics. They are not heroes, but rather individuals forced into heroism.

The first two seasons of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ follow the same formula

The first two seasons of The Umbrella Academy have perhaps had some major differences – especially in the family dynamic realm. Since the siblings grew closer in the previous season, the follow-up could examine their interpersonal relationships a little harder. Yet the two in the narrative department were rather synonymous.

In both installations, an apocalypse is difficult, Vanya is at the center of destruction, and the siblings must find a way to save Vanya, save the world, and leave the course of human history largely intact. Sounds not too much for a few Hargreeves kids.

The first two seasons focused on the occurrence of doomsday. However, the final two of the seasons and available information on the trajectory of the comic strip (on which the show is based) implies that season 3 may explore some unattractive territory.

What will happen in season 3 of ‘The Umbrella Academy?’

Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy ends with the Hargreeves back in 2019, but her father is alive once again, and he has assembled a new team of elite heroes – The Sparrow Academy. Ben is one of the primary members. It is likely that Reginald, after meeting the original choices back in the 1960s, went in a different direction with his academy of children.

As Screen Rant notes, season 3 of The Umbrella Academy (once confirmed) will see the Hargreeves children face a changed past – unlike their memory, and do not miss their children at home. Instead of facing an apocalypse, the team will face a new academy, with a leader they know and love (Ben) who has no idea who they are. Will the two teams mash-up to defeat the baddies together, or will the old and new Hargreeves kids clash when it comes to how to save the world? Will it be a battle of heroes?

A fight to reset the timeline she knows could come to fruition if the Hargreeves can be forced to live from 2019 in which her previous years of life are known only to her. However, the team does not seem likely to go against an apocalypse this time around. After all, the conflict teams were bound to come from an external source, unlike once again Vanya.
