Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg recently argued against two antitrust lawsuits filed this week that could lead to a split between Instagram and WhatsApp, saying Facebook’s 2012 and 2014 acquisitions had already been cleared by the US government.

“Those acquisitions were approved and if you can buy a company, and after eight years, 10 years, the government can clean them up and open them up – that would be a really big chilling problem for American business, we’re not going to be competitive. “Around the world,” Sandberg said in an interview with the published Tamron Hall on Thursday.

Sandberg’s comments in response to lawsuits filed by the Federal Trade Commission and a coalition of lawyers from 48 states and territories echoed the response made by Facebook on Wednesday.

Sandberg also argued against the notion that Facebook does not face competition.

Sandberg said, “There’s our services but there’s iMessage, there’s the ticket ok, there’s Snapchat, a lot of which has grown very fast.” “I can’t get my own kids to post on Instagram because they’re too busy on Snapchat and ticket ok. You know, if you want to get electricity for your home today, you have a choice, but you’ve got it. Lots of choices for your time and attention. “
