Today’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data up to December 3rd.
State metrics:
- Under the state system for determining COVID-19 risk, San Diego County has Purple Tire or Tier 1. The state may use a more restrictive measure of case rate or assign tires in relation to what activities are allowed. Indoor operation at Restaurants, gyms, places of worship and movie theaters Currently not allowed.
- The county’s state-calculated, adjusted case rate is currently 15.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and is in Purple Tier or Tier 1 for that area metric.
- The test positivity percentage is 2.3%, placing it in Tier 3 or Orange tires for the metric.
- The county’s health equity metric, which sees the test positivity for areas with the lowest healthy conditions, is 10.6% and is in Purple Tier or Tier 1. This metric does not move the county to more restricted levels but is necessary to move forward. Less restricted level

Community setup eruption:
- Dec 1 A new community outbreak was confirmed: six in business settings, two in food / beverage processing settings, two in distribution warehouse settings, one in emergency services setting, one in government setting, one in trust setting and one in healthcare setting.
- On December 2, 12 new community outbreaks were confirmed: four in business settings, three in retail settings, one in daycare / preschool / childcare settings, one in TK – 12 school settings, one in emergency services setting, one in hotel / resort / spa and one In a college / university setting.
- In the last seven days (November 27 to December 3), 93 community outbreaks were confirmed.
- The number of community outbreaks is above seven or more triggers in seven days.
- Outbreaks of a community in the last 14 days are defined as three or more covid-19 cases and in different households.
Testing:
- The county reported 25,289 tests on Dec. 3, and the percentage of newly laboratory-confirmed cases was 8%.
- The 14-day rolling average percentage of positive cases is 6.7%. The target is less than 8.0%.
- The 7-day, daily average tests are 18,695.
- People with high risk for Covid-19 and those without it should be examined. Health care and essential workers should also get a test, as well as people who have had close contact with a positive case or live in communities that are being severely affected. Those who have recently returned from a trip, or who attended a holiday gathering, are also requested to take the test.
Case:
- A record 2,039 cases have been confirmed among San Diego County residents as of Dec. 3. The total figure for this sector is now 88,181.

- Dec The county reported seven new deaths in December. The total number of this area is now 1,047.
- Four women and three men died between November 30 and December 3, and their ages ranged from the mid-20s to the early 100s.
