Today’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data as of December 14th.

ICU Capacity and Stay Home Order:

  • The existing ICU capacity for the Southern California region is now 1.7% and will be updated daily by the state.
  • This Regional Stay Home Order It is now in effect and prohibits gatherings of any size with other household members and adds restrictions for multiple areas.
  • The order will last for at least three weeks or until the ICU capacity of the region is more or less than 15%. The order will be evaluated by the state after a period of three weeks.

Community setup eruption:

  • On December 14, six new community outbreaks were confirmed: five in business settings and one in trust-based agency settings.
  • In the last seven days (December 8 to December 14), 43 community outbreaks were confirmed.
  • The number of community outbreaks is above seven or more triggers in seven days.
  • An outbreak in a community over the last 14 days is defined as three or more COVID-19 cases.

Testing:

  • As of Dec. 14, 23,485 trials were reported in the county, and the percentage of newly laboratory-confirmed cases was 8%.
  • The 14-day rolling average percentage of positive cases is 8.1%. The target is less than 8.0%.
  • The 7-day, daily average of tests is 25,213.
  • People at high risk of COVID-19, with or without symptoms, should be tested. People with any symptoms should be examined. Healthcare and essential workers should also get a test, as well as people who have had close contact with a positive case or live in communities that are being severely affected. Those who have recently returned from a trip or are attending a holiday gathering are also requested to take the test.

Case:

  • As of Dec. 14, 1,863 new cases had been reported in the county. The total figure for the region is now 111,441.
  • 5,212 or 4.7% of all cases require hospitalization.
  • 1,118 or 1.0% of all cases and 21.5% of hospitalized cases had to be admitted to the intensive care unit.

Mortality:

  • Thirty-two new COVID-19 deaths were reported in the county on Dec. 14. The total number of regions is 1,194.
  • Nine women and 23 men died between November 23 and December 14, and their ages ranged from the 50s to the early 50s.
  • All but one of the deceased were under medical conditions.
