This year, on New Year’s Eve, private parties are prohibited. However, many Romanians rented villas and cabins to celebrate the years with family and friends.

Authorities say that although police officers cannot enter homes, they can impose fines for disturbing public order. Such a fine is between 500 and 2,500 lei for participants, and owners, if it is a rented space, can be fined up to 10,000 lei, according to Stirileprotv.ro.

The only option accepted by the authorities is to rent a house just for family members.

Restaurants will not be able to organize parties either. The premises also operate indoors, with a capacity of 50%, in areas where the incidence rate is less than 1.5 per thousand inhabitants, and in regions where the incidence rate is between 1.5 and 3 per thousand inhabitants it can operate, also indoors, but at a capacity of 30%.

Industry employers demand an extension of the New Years Eve program until 1 p.m.

The other rules are maintained, that is, no more than 6 people at a table, a distance of two meters between tables and dancing is prohibited.
