Two workers were held hostage for hours in an apartment in Onești, eventually being stabbed to death by the person who had abducted them. He, in turn, was shot by the police, who intervened by force, but too late. Now, the man is in the hospital, injured, his wife was arrested for complicity in the deprivation of liberty, and the police chiefs are conducting an internal investigation in Onești, to verify if there was any wrong step in the intervention of the authorities.
The two workers were working, renovating the house. The former owner of the building, who lost the apartment more than 10 years ago to the company where the victims worked, seized both of them and tried to obtain their old property as a ransom. He himself called the police to say that he was holding the two hostages under threat of a knife. Negotiations with the Bacău police specialist failed and the 68-year-old assailant stabbed them both. This would be, in short, the movie of the events.

Witnesses to the hostage-taking in Onești captured dramatic moments, when the attacker came out onto the balcony, with the victims at his side and brandishing a knife, to tell them to leave the policemen who had come to speak with him. In vain the law enforcement officers and a negotiator, for 4 hours, tried to convince the man to release the two workers. The images also show the two victims at one point: a 36-year-old man and his 52-year-old colleague. There were dramatic moments:
“According to the procedure in these situations, I can tell you that my colleagues have been in a permanent relationship with the person in question so that they surrender. The man, at one point, seemed to give up his gesture, but at one point he turned violent. Then the police intervened by force. The door of the apartment was forced after the moment when cries for help were heard, ”Gabriela Ciobanu, spokesperson for IPJ Bacău, explained to Digi24.

What the witnesses say
“I heard three shots,” said a witness.
“Someone called him to work in the apartment and he ran into the boys: What are you doing here? Don’t do anything else!” – said a neighbor. “I know him and his wife. As far as I know, he’s ‘gone’ a bit,” says the man.
After the police intervention, one of the seriously injured workers, who later died, and the aggressor arrived at the hospital.
“A 36-year-old person with cardiorespiratory arrest was transferred to the UPU, with multiple stab wounds, in the sternal region, anterior and posterior thorax. He was resuscitated, left the arrest, after which the cardiorespiratory arrest was reinstated, even manual stimulation of the heart was used, a thoracotomy was performed, but unfortunately death was declared. Later, the 68-year-old attacker was admitted, with multiple gunshot wounds, quite aggressive, ”said Anca Băncescu, medical director of the Onești hospital.
The second victim, the 52-year-old worker, died right in the apartment where he had been held hostage.
The aggressor’s wife, arrested for complicity

Meanwhile, the assailant’s wife was arrested for complicity. According to the first information, the woman was on the fourth floor of the same building, one floor above the terror department. Police found several plastic necklaces in her bag.
Where did it all begin?
The tragedy started from the apartment where the two workers were stabbed. The apartment was lost in a criminal proceeding against the assailant’s wife 12 years ago. She was charged with embezzlement to the detriment of the company where the two victims worked and, to cover the damages, the court confiscated her apartment located in a four-story apartment block in the city of Onești.
During all this time, the attacker apparently did not accept that he lost the apartment.
Therefore, the company where the two deceased workers worked had owned the apartment since 2008, following a court decision, but the house had not been used at all by the company and, according to its representatives, the decision to renew it. the building to accommodate other employees of that company. The two workers, electricians by profession, were sent there to make an assessment of a future renovation and it seems that it is the neighbors who announced to the former owner that they are people present in the apartment. The man went there, threatened the two with a knife and called the police to ask for a sum of money as a ransom, so that they could try to recover the lost apartment.
Questions about police intervention
Because the police used weapons, an ex officio administrative investigation is opened, which should clarify how the negotiations were, why they failed and especially why and how long it took until the intervention came into force, since the aggressor had long enough to inflict fatal wounds on the two victims.
It is also necessary to clarify under what conditions the negotiation with the specialist took place within the Bacău County Police Inspectorate and when the decision of the current intervention in this case was taken.
