He claims that this structure is a “failed experiment”, with delays in preventing domestic violence and acts of vandalism.
“We need to guarantee the security of the citizen through permanent activities in the communities, we need professional security forces, not politically affiliated, competent people who understand the direction and specificities of the communities they are committed to protecting. We are behind the prevention of domestic violence, vandalism, protecting the environment or animals. There are dozens of community activities that must be pursued with professionalism and dedication to ensure that citizens are safe and comfortable in the communities they choose to live in. The MEP accuses the Local Police of repeated abuses and gives examples from various areas.
“I am convinced that the majority of citizens do not distinguish between the powers of the National Police and those of the Local Police and this fact is not normal. I know of countless abuses in which Local Police employees have exceeded their duties and acted abusively. What happened now in Sector 1 of the Capital, where the employees of the Local Police worked in the interest of the mayor, is outrageous, but far from being an exception. We have seen similar cases in many localities and we all remember the case of Iasi, where the Local Police followed the mayor’s mistress. Harassment is permanent and is proof of the failure of this institution. We had innumerable complaints from colleagues in the territory about the participation of the Local Police in the electoral campaign and a week ago we witnessed abuse and harassment by the Local Police in Sector 4, which began to legitimize us, to verbally invite us to the headquarters of cop.
