A plane with 64 passengers on board had problems arriving at the Baneasa airport, after the landing gear gave in contact with the ground, broadcasts ProTV correspondent Vitalie Cojocari, who was at the scene.
Representatives of the Civil Aviation Safety Investigation and Analysis Authority have already started an investigation and are talking about a plane crash.
There were a total of 64 passengers on board the aircraft, including 49 passengers and 15 crew members, according to the Aviation Safety Investigation and Analysis Authority.
The plane landed at Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu airport at 2:52 p.m.
The aircraft was carrying military personnel from Kabul (Afghanistan) and was making a technical stop for refueling in Bucharest, and then took off for Washington.
Upon impacting the ground, the landing gear of the Boeing 767-323 crashed and the aircraft leaned to the left.
The airport crews (firefighters, ambulances) acted promptly, in accordance with specific procedures, using foam to cool the aircraft, prevent sparks, and plug oil leaks.
AIAS is already conducting an investigation.
The airport runway is closed.
The American company Omni Air operates flights for the American military authorities twice a week at the Baneasa airport in the Capital.
